'The Last Survivor'
A lone white rhino powering through a dusty landscape. in 2022 only two northern white rhinos remain under careful vigilance in Kenya. Thankfully, numbers of the southern white rhino and other rhino species are increasing thanks to spectacular conservation efforts, however relentless poaching for the illegal trade of their horn remains their biggest threat.
Over 200 hours of drawing has gone into this piece with each crease of skin drawn one at a time using fine archival ink pens then finally shaded with black pastel. Drawn on Arches hot pressed watercolour paper, drawing size 56cm x 76cm plus framing. The paper is 'floated' in the frame to showcase it's raw edges, with a black backing and black wood frame. The glass is premium Truecolour Glass so very low reflection.
